On this page you’ll read about the conditions chiropractors commonly help with, and what to expect on your first few visits to CMC Chiropractic.
What to Expect…
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, management and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health.
The chiropractic adjustment helps to increase your range of motion, improve your biomechanical performance, address postural and spinal alignment problems and promote healing.
Your First Visit:
Your initial chiropractic check-up aims to give you this information so you can make an informed decision on your health.
History and Physical Exam:
Dr. Pollicina (Chiropractor) will use this time to get to know you and your case. This will help him to determine if and how chiropractic care may benefit you. He will conduct a thorough analysis using several criteria to identify the specific pain generators in your spine.
Your first few visits are designed to find out exactly what is going on in your case. When it comes to good spinal health and posture, knowledge is power. Most of us know where we want to go, but to get there we need a plan and knowledge of your condition.
Diagnostic Imaging:
Certain types of injuries may require further assessment through diagnostic imaging. This may involve such things as an X-ray, ultrasound or MRI. These images may help us better understand what the true underlying cause of your injury may be which will further assist in treatment and prognosis.
Diagnosis and Recommendations:
Once there has been a thorough examination of the injury, a diagnosis will be made. This will outline what the underlying cause of your problem is. All necessary recommendations will then be given to you in order for the best possible outcome.
Your Report of Findings:
To help you better understand your injury Dr Julian Pollicina (Chiropractor) will outline the individual findings of the examination and the likely duration of the course of treatment.
Your First Adjustment:
Treatment will then commence once both the practitioner and patient have understood the diagnosis, prognosis and further recommendations if necessary.
Commonly Helped Conditions…
Back Pain.
Up to 80%1 of us will experience lower back pain at some point. Back pain is also a leading cause of job-related disability and time off work. Not to mention being awfully painful and debilitating. Chiropractic is generally effective in the treatment of back pain.
Neck Pain.
Chiropractic care often helps people experiencing neck pain. If your neck pain is the result of a musculoskeletal problem, chiropractic may help. Studies2 have shown high-quality evidence that patients with chronic neck pain experience pain-level improvements after chiropractic care.
Headache and Migraine Pain.
Chiropractors commonly help some types of headache and migraine pains. Lots of money is spent each year on pain relief medications – while these drugs may provide temporary relief, they effectively cover up the symptoms, and may not treat the underlying cause. Chiropractors may help with cervicogenic headaches (related to the neck) and migraine headaches.
Whiplash.
Accidents like car crashes may cause significant injury to your body, with or without symptoms. Whiplash is the most common type of injury from a crash. We can commonly help in cases of whiplash.
Sports Injury.
We take a wholistic approach to sports injury and offer you chiropractic care, laser therapy, shockwave therapy, dry needling, cupping technique, soft tissue massage, joint manipulation and rehabilitation exercises. All of these options can be used to help you recover from sports injuries faster, and to prevent injuries next time.
Posture Problems.
We can help to diagnose posture problems and to put strategies in place to help you correct your posture. Chiropractors work to improve posture by mobilising stiff joints, reducing chronic pain, removing pressure from joints/nerves and by strengthening weak muscles.
